Bradford Women for Peace

Bradford Women for Peace was set up in August 2010 to enable local women from across the Bradford District to have a voice and share messages of peace at a time when Bradford’s communities were threatened by a planned demonstration by the English Defence League (EDL) in Bradford. Bradford Women for Peace adopted the colour lime green to symbolise hope, renewal, nurturing and peace.

The Bradford Women for Peace network were brought together again in October 2013 when news of the EDL’s latest demonstration in Bradford was announced. Women from Bradford’s diverse communities once again came together in solidarity and unity to spread the message of peace and unity.

As a mark of our strength and resilience we invited women to stand alongside us to create a giant web of solidarity made from green ribbon to show that the lives of the women of Bradford District are woven together.

Bradford Women for Peace will continue the theme of peace, unity and solidarity by spreading the message of peace and solidarity at various events around the District.
